Anatase, the anatomical form of titanium dioxide, is a polymorph of titanium dioxide
The purest form, called alpha titanium dioxide or a-TiO2, has an exceptionally white to very light gray color.
The actual color of anatase is colorless, admixtures of other atoms in the crystal cause light yellow, reddish brown, blue and blackish gray colors.
Anatase crystallizes in the tetragonal crystal system and develops mostly dipyramidal and tabular crystals from a few millimeters to several centimeters in size
to several centimetres in size, whose colours vary between black-grey, brown, reddish-brown and blue
The colours are based on impurities with foreign atoms; pure anatase is colourless, but occurs only very rarely naturally
