Boulder Opal 4

This bouldering opal is something very special, as you can see from the picture !

This earthy boulder opal is covered with a  yellow - green - purple glittering opal layer

36 x 25  x 8 mm side drilled so that you can wear the boulder opal on a band or on a hoop.

Boulder Opals are a noble opal variety from Australia with opal veins on claystone.
The name comes from the old Indian "upala" = precious stone.
Already in ancient Greece (opallios) and Rome (opalus) it carried this name.
