This septarian sphere from Madagascar is a combination of several rock types that come together in a nodular calcite mud. This sphere is rich in calcite and sometimes tridymite.
Septarian spherules are septaries, concretions formed by the precipitation of minerals, especially calcite, in a cavity in sedimentary rocks such as limestone.
It has been polished, but not ground, to show off the sparkling colors of the mud in which it was formed.
