The name Larimar was given to this mineral by a mine owner in the Dominican Republic, who named it after his daughter's name Lari and the Spanish word for sea.
During the time of Atlantis, Larimar was known as one of the most valuable treasures. Prized by the Aztecs and Mayans for its healing properties, this blue variety of pectolite is found only in the Dominican Republic.
Larimar stands for openness and is said to help increase mental space, delineate and expand perception
